  MARES

OUR BREEDING STRATEGY

We strive to produce high-quality, yet affordable, registered offspring for reining, cow horse, ranch horse, and barrel racing competitions.  More recently, track racing has been added to the list of prospective disciplines.  All mares are managed closely throughout their pregnancies, from the start of estrus through either live cover or insemination breeding by our equine fertility and breeding specialist.  Each mare is tested for bacterial infection and follicle size/definition prior to breeding, with ultra-sounds being performed and shots given at critical stages throughout the gestation period, giving each mare the optimal chance of successfully birthing a healthy foal.

Click under each horse's picture for her pedigree, or you may also see them with limited performance information on AllBreedPedigree.com.

Doco Senhorita Rey

(pedigree)

MISSY HAS BEEN SOLD, 5/08!

Missy is off to a new home where her new owners will enjoy using her for reining and utilizing her superior bloodlines for breeding, if they so choose.   Before leaving us, however, she had a very nice colt by Shadow on February 8, 2008.  We call him Nacho, look for him with the other 2008 Crop foals under the Sales tab.  We are leaving her photos and pedigree on our website so you can see what her get are made of.  Good luck with your new girl, Skye and J.C.!

Doco Senhorita Rey:  This beautiful bay mare has outstanding bloodlines.  "Missy" is sired by Doco Play, an NCHA & NRHA money earning own son of the great Doc O'Lena (Doc Bar out of Poco Lena x Poco Bueno).  Her sire’s dam is Commander Playgirl (by World Champion, NRHA/NCHA money-earner Freckles Playboy out of Commander Quixote x Doc Quixote, NCHA Futurity & money earner/COA, and sire to multiple Hall of Fame, Superior and AQHA-, NRHA- & NCHA-money/point earners).

On the bottom side, her dam is an own daughter of Professor’s Alibi (x Doc Bar out of Jean Tivio x Poco Tivio).  Professor’s Alibi is an AQHA ROM Open Performance earner, NCHA money-earner/COA, and has points in Halter & Performance.   Missy has another cross to Doc Bar through her second dam.  Her blood consists of 35% Doc Bar, 14% Poco Bueno, 11% Sheilwin (dam to AQHA champions), and 10% Three Bars (grandsire of Doc Bar), with the rest of her blood consisting of the old Foundation lines.  She's registered with the FQHA, at 89.8%, missing her regular registration by just .02%!

Missy has had formal reining training and, although we use her only as a broodmare, she still enjoys a romp through the pastures, especially when she can round up some loose cattle!  Missy has already produced an absolutely gorgeous filly for us, 2004 filly, Tabs Dixie War Lano (x NRCHA World Champion Start Me A Tab, now owned by AQHA world champion Tamara Ray.  Tamara also owns both of our 2005 colts, Bullet & Bandit!).  In February 2006, Missy presented us with the first-ever colt sired by our black stallion, TRS Renegade Dash ("Shadow").  Jesse is shown on the 2006 Crop page in his proper place, Number One!   Jesse is in training for barrel racing.  Missy  foaled her second colt by Shadow, "Abe", who came to us on Abe Lincoln's birthday, 2/12/07.  Abe and his half-siblings, Gator (2007) and Oreo (2008), along with a colt out of our buckskin mare (Sparky, 2007) are owned now by the Lanier Family of Florida.  Missy's 2/8/08 foal by Shadow is called Nacho.  He's just as nice as his big brothers and sister, and can be seen for sale on the Sales/2008 Crop page.

CJ's Shootin Star

(pedigree)

STAR

CJs Shootin Star:  "Star" has the right combination of speed and cow horse to produce foals that will make great prospects for any discipline.  Star’s sire, Cryin John, has shown in reining and reined cow horse arenas.  He’s by Cryin Time, an own son of multiple World Champion and AAA racing horse-producer Triple Chick (Three Bars x Chicado V), and his dam is Chubby Ann Star (107 Halter points in addition to Performance points).  Cryin John’s dam, Harlajetta, is an own daughter of Jet Baron (x Jet Deck, SI-100, ex. Sugar Roll x Sugar Bars) out of a daughter of the legendary Harlan Jet Deck, AAA World Champion Racing Quarter Horse, was a 9-time Futurity winner and leading sire of AAA racing horses, including 383 Race ROM, and five AQHA champions, including 1 Supreme.

Star’s dam, Gunsmoke Sunday, is an NCHA money-earner of over $3,000.  She is sired by Gunsmoke Sans, an own son of AQHA legend Mr. Gun Smoke (sire of multiple World, NCHA, and NRHA champions) out of San's Patti (by racing champion Leo San x Leo, a leading sire of multiple AQHA and NCHA World Champions, Supreme, Superior and ROM earners) To complete her champion-lined pedigree, Star also has the great AQHA Hall of Fame racing horse Joe Reed one line off on her dam’s bottom side.

Star is registered as having 90.625% Foundation blood with the FQHR.  Her temperament reveals those wonderful Foundation qualities everyone attempts to breed into their horses.  Star foaled a hansome colt called Gator on April 18, 2007, who can be seen on Sales/2007 Crop page.  Star gave us a beautiful filly, "Smoke" in April 2006, also by Shadow, and she is shown on the Sales/2006 Crop page.  Star's 2005 colt, Bandit, and her first-ever colt in 2002, Festus, both by outside stallions (before we bought Shadow) can be seen on our Sales/Prior Years page, with Bandit also appearing on our Home page.  You will immediately see a consistency in the quality of Star's foals from year to year.  Since Star has been busy having beautiful babies for us for the last few years, we gave her some time off for rest.

Pepperroni Lil San

(pedigree)

PEPPER  HAS BEEN SOLD, 9/08!

Pepper was bought by Mike & Terrie, who bought two of our fillies, Smoke and Java, from Shadow's first-ever foal crop.  Pepper is Java's dam.  Mike & Terrie liked her so much they bought Pepper who's in foal for 2009 to Shadow.  They're going to love Pepper just as much as we do!

Pepperroni Lil San:  "Pepper" has superior cow horse blood which crosses well with speed blood to produce quick, athletic foals.  Her sire, Pepperroni Pine, is an own son of the AQHA and NCHA champion Mr. San Peppy, whose credentials in cutting and siring are legendary.  Her sire’s dam is Pocopine's Twig, an own daughter of Poco Pine, also an AQHA champion and an all-time leading sire of champions.

Pepper’s dam, Smart Lil San Peppy, is sired by Smart Jose (x Smart Little Lena x Doc O’Lena).  Smart Jose’s dam is an own daughter of Jose Uno on top and with Cutter Bill on the bottom.  Jose Uno is an NCHA Top Ten, Hall of Fame & World Champion who also earned a Superior title & ROM; he sired many NCHA champions.  Cutter Bill is a multi-time World Champion cutting horse, winner of 15 Halter points, 334 performance points, and a producer of multiple World Champions.

Pepper  is registered with FQHA & FQHR with 98.44% Foundation blood!  She's a very sweet mare and has produced beautiful foals for us, including her 2005 colt, "Bullet" and her 2003 colt, "Montana" (both by outside studs prior to our purchase of Shadow).  They can be seen on our Sales/Prior Years page.  In May 2006, Pepper brought to us our first-ever black filly, "Java", sired by Shadow, shown on the Sales/2006 Crop page.  She  foaled a gorgeous black colt, Oreo, on 2/4/08, owned by the Lanier family.   After purchasing Java in 2006, her owners came back to us in 2008 and bought both Pepper and her unborn foal by Shadow--a very nice colt born on 5/6/09 called "Doc".  Take a look at his photo on the 2009 Crop page, he's very handsome!

Carols Bell Star

(pedigree)

BELLE HAS BEEN SOLD, 9/09!

Focusing more on straight racing blood, and concentrating on selling broodmares that are already trained to ride, we sold Belle to a local barrel racer.   With just a little time in the round pen, she'll be good to go forward with the training she'd had before we bought her 5 years ago.  Good luck in the arenas, Brenda!

Carols Bell Star:  "Belle", is a beautiful, 1999, bay mare.  On top, she's Foundation-bred for cutting with speed blood, too, and she's speed-bred for barrels on the bottom.  We introduced her to the cows and she loved it, laying her ears back and getting right to the task.  She can flat-out run in the pasture, too.

One line off her papers are the legendary Leo (AQHA Hall of Fame, racing Quarter Horse & an all-time AQHA leading sire), Doc's Prescription (AQHA champion cutter, NCHA champion and sire to multiple World Champion cutters & reining cow horses), and two crosses to Cutter Bill (multiple World Champion cutting horse, winner of 15 Halter points, 334 performance points, and a producer of multiple World Champions).

For even more speed and agility, her dam is a granddaughter of Bugs Alive in 75, the All-American Futurity winner (1975), the #12 all-time leading sire of AQHA barrel-racing point earners, and a leading maternal grandsire of barrel horses.  Here are some of the Speed Indexes either right on or one line off her papers:  Bugs Alive in 75 (94), who’s by the #31 all-time leading sire of AQHA barrel-racing point earners, AQHA race champion Top Moon (100), out of Ralph's Lady Bug (100), and Win Leader (95).  Belle is built like tank and has tons of muscle. You'll know she's got Leo and Cutter Bill lines when you see her hind quarters!  Belle sould easily qualify for one of the Foundation registries.

In March 2006, Belle presented us with an absolutely gorgeous filly, our first of four for the 2006 season by Shadow. This was Belle's first foal and she did an excellent job!  You can see Bug's photo on the Sales/2006 Crop page.  She was sold as a weanling to Eddie Piloto, the current president of the FL Reined Cow Horse Association.  You'll be seeing Bug in the futurities with her trainer/owner/friend, Amy Hoffman.  On April 21, 2007, Belle gave us what looks like a carbon copy of her older sister, a filly we call Indy.  Compare her photo on the Sales/2007 Crop page to Bug's with the Sales/2006 foals and you'll see that she looks like a clone of her older sister.  Belle has now got a 3/29/09 colt by her side that we're calling Cody, another look-alike of his full sisters.  When sold, Belle was in foal once again to TRS Renegade Dash, resulting in a gorgeous little filly in the spring of 2010.

Zans Range Twist

(pedigree)

TWIST

Zans Range Twist: Twist is the latest Quarter Horse addition to our broodmares.  She was purchased in October 2006, already in foal to a well-bred stallion.  Twist is Appendix-registered with AQHA.  Her Quarter Horse blood on the top side is made up of some of the best cow horse lines, such as Doc Bar and Poco Bueno.  Her sire's grandsire is the legendary Zan Parr Bar, 3-time World Champion halter horse with 245 lifetime halter points!.  On her bottom side, her dam is a granddaughter of the great Texas Dancer (TB), himself a track champion, but better known for siring multiple World Champions in race and performance.  Texas Dancer was sired by the immortal Thoroughbred, Native Dancer ("The Gray Ghost")!

This gorgeous buckskin mare had a very nice colt for us 6/07, sired by Gentlemens Waltz.  We called this colt Sparky and he's shown on our Sales/2007 Crop page.  On 6/10/08, sired by Shadow, Twist presented us with the first Palomino we've ever had born on this farm.  We're calling this colt Rowdy (Renegade Dancer) and he's automatically eligible for the FQHRA racing futurity and derby in 2010/2011.  Adding to the "Horse of a Different Color" scheme, Twist had a 5/9/09 filly, a smart and beautiful buckskin, the spit and image of her momma!  Sprite was sold at the ripe old age of 4 months to husband-and-wife Thoroughbred trainers, so we hope to see Sprite racing on the tracks in Florida!

WE'VE GOT SOME THOROUGHBRED MARES TOO!!

In February 2007, we have two mares added to our roster of Shadow's mates.  We are now the proud owners of "A Fastjet" (Jet) and "Northern Madrigal" (Maddy).   Both mares are from some of the most legendary, older TB racing lines.  Both had been bred to Thoroughbred studs prior to our purchasing them.

Crossed to our Quarter Horse stallion, Shadow, the produce will be AQHA Appendix Registion-eligible foals.  And, since Shadow is registered with the Florida Quarter Horse Racing Association as an Accredited Stallion for the Florida-Bred Incentive Program, his get are automatically eligible for their 2-year-old Futurities and 3-year-old Derbies.
They should be excellent prospects for the Quarter Horse race tracks opening in November 2009 at the historic Hialeah, Florida, track outside Miami...the one with the Pink Flamingos on the inside of the track!

A Fastjet

(pedigree)

A Fastjet:  Jet, a  gorgeous, coppery chestnut, is an own daughter of Fred Hooper's money-earning stallion, Forsythe Boy by Nodouble (multiple Stakes & Derby winner of almost $847K) out of Susan's Girl x Quadrangle.  Fred Hooper's Susan's Girl was inducted into the TB Hall of Fame, earning over $1,251 Million!  She was the first-ever filly or mare to earn over $1M.  Jet's dam is the race-earner and producing dam Patajet (Tri-Jet ex. Patzier x Crozier).  Jet, herself, is a producing mare, including her son, Jet Legacy, with earnings of over $70K.

On 2/26/07, Jet foaled an absolutely goregous colt we call Stormy, sired by the great Thoroughbred racer & Stakes Producer, ADCAT ( x STORM CAT ex. Adorable Micole x Riverman).   With Quarter Horse racing planned to open in Fall 2008 in Jasper, FL, Jet was bred to Shadow in 2007.  The result was a very handsome colt we're calling Gilly, who joined our family on 3/15/08.  Just as with Twist's colt, Gilly is also automatically eligible for FQHRA's 2010 Stallion Breeding Auction Futurity and the 2011 SBA Derby.

Jet has been sent to a stud farm in Ocala, the home of Senor Eduardo, an own son of Holy Bull, to be bred for a 2010 Thoroughbred foal.  She is shown here with Gilly, her 2008 colt by Shadow.  Gilly will be running on the Quarter Horse tracks, beginning his career as a 3-year-old.

Northern Madrigal

(pedigree)

Northern Madrigal:  Maddy, a gray Thoroughbred, is equally as well bred as Jet.  Her sire is Stakes Winner  Unzipped, earner of over $150K (x Naked Sky {$144K} x Al Hattab).  Her dam is Star North x Far North ($44K & Stakes sire) ex. Midnight Madrigal ($112K) x Ameroid ($491K).  Far North is an own son of the great NORTHERN DANCER, legendary in both the track and barrel racing worlds.

We bought Maddy already in foal to a Thoroughbred stud named Recommended List.   He is a Multiple Stakes Winner of over $269K sired by Roman Diplomat, Stakes Winner & Stakes Producer (by the great Roberto).  List's money-earning dam is Waviness by another Fred Hooper stud, Copelan, Stakes Winner of over $594K by Tri Jet.  From this breeding, we were blessed with a gorgeous filly foaled on 5/8/08.   "Sassy" (J.Cl Recommended Dancer) should hit the tracks soon as we learned she is beginning her training in 9/09.  Like Jet, Maddy is being bred back for 2010 to Senor Eduardo.  Meanwhile, check out Sassy's photos on the Sales page for the 2008 crop.

We haven't yet crossed Maddy with Shadow but now that Quarter Horse racing has returned to Florida as of November 2009, we will be anxious to see what that breeding could bring to the mix!
