QUARTER HORSE RACING IS FINALLY BACK IN FLORIDA !!!
RACE FANS TAKE NOTE: Beginning in 2006, and in each year thereafter, we have donated a breeding to "Shadow" to the annual FLORIDA QUARTER HORSE RACING ASSOCIATION'S STALLION BREEDING AUCTION.
Starting with the 2006 breeding year, ALL FOALS sired by Shadow in each of those years are AUTOMATICALLY ELIGIBLE FOR THE STALLION BREEDING AUCTION FUTURITIES AND S.B.A. DERBIES AS TWO- AND THREE-YEAR-OLD COLTS !
Foaled March 2, 2003, Shadow is our handsome black stallion. A small, white star is his only marking. Everyone who sees Shadow falls in love with him! He's got excellent bone, muscle, conformation, very kind eyes, with a beautiful head and neck. He stands at 15.3 hands and weighs approximately 1,100 lbs. The photo at the top was taken when he was just three years old. The running photo was taken in 2008 as a five-year-old.
Aside from his speed and good looks, one of his main contributions to our breeding program is that he's passing on his extremely calm temperament to his get. He’s a total gentleman even when he’s around the mares in season. This trait seems to be common among the get of Dash for Cash, his paternal grandsire. This genetic trait was passed to his own son, Shadow’s sire, Hot Shot Dash, and now down through Shadow to his own get. Shadow arrived at Muir Haven Farm in May 2005 with his first-ever foal crop hitting the ground in Spring 2006. His foal crops can be seen under the "Sale" tab for each year's crop.
As you will see from just some of his parentage information, Shadow is royally bred for speed. He has the conformation, temperament and blood line credentials to sire future winners in any discipline. Outcrossing Shadow's speed blood to our Foundation-bred mares has.produced some superior prospects for barrels, cutting, reining and roping/rodeo arenas. Crossed to speed-bred and Appendix-registered mares, not to mention our Thoroughbred mares, his get promise to be tremendous prospects for Quarter Horse racing. (See the special note at the top of this page.)
Shadow has many racing legends right on his papers and throughout his lineage.
Showing on the front page of Shadow's AQHA registration papers are:
(Stats were obtained from AQHA pedigree records, the AQHA "Legends" book series, and from information found on www.AllBreedPeidgree.com.)
Hot Shot Dash (SI-95): Shadow is a carbon copy of his sire in the looks department. Hot Shot is an AAA Race Producer, Multiple Stakes Producer & Barrel Producer. An overall 80% Money Producer, 100% of his first three foal crops are money earners, with many stakes qualifiers and a growing number of those being winners. His first 2 colts to go to barrels ran solid 1D times. One of his fillies topped the 2004 BFA competition! And one colt set a new track record for 250 yds. with an SI of 108! These are all half brothers or sisters to Shadow!! You can check out a list of Hot Shot's Race and (Stakes) Record from Bloodstock Magazine. Although this report is from 2007, Hot Shot's progeny keep adding to his and their own lists of accomlishments. The report reveals important information about his sire and dam lines, clearly showing the propensity for winners on both sides. We believe those genes have been passed along to Shadow and now into his get.
Dash for Cash (SI-114): 1997 Hall of Fame inductee, multiple-time World Champion, Superior & ROM Performance, over $507,000 in race earnings with 21 wins out of 25 starts, and he’s a Performance Point-earner. He’s also legendary as a sire whose get carry similar credentials, including those that have gone to track and barrel racing.
Top Moon (SI-100) (x Moon Deck (SI-95) x Top Deck): Shadow has 2 crosses right on his papers! Top Moon is a 1999 Hall of Fame inductee, ROM Performance, AAAT Race earnings of over $40,000, with 15 wins in 40 starts. He’s listed as the #31 all-time leading sire of AQHA point earners for barrel racing. His get have earned such titles as World Champion, Reserve W.C., Superior Halter & Performance, ROM Performance, Race ROM, Race Money, Halter-& Performance Point-earners. He sired race earners of over $7.7M, 114 Stakes Winners, & multiple ROM/money earners. Shadow carries over 26% Top Moon blood!
Rocket Wrangler (SI-97) (x Rocket Bar, TB (SI-85) x Three Bars, TB), out of Go Galla Go, SI-95, an own daughter of Go Man Go, SI-100). Rocket Wrangler owns the titles of World Champion, Superior & ROM Performance, with race winnings of over $252,000. He, too, has sired multiple champions, including Dash For Cash, and is an especially well-known, sought-after blood line for barrel racers.
Merganser (SI-105) x TB Duck Dance out of Hug Tiny (SI-106). Florida-bred Merganser racked up LTE of almost $1.4 Million, a huge sum at that time. He was a Supreme & World Champion with Superior & ROM Performance titles. He sired others with similar records, including barrel racers.
Hot Idea (SI-106): This great racing mare had 7 first-place wins out of 14 starts with LTE of just under $375,000. Also a prolific producer, she was crossed with Merganser resulting in Hot Shot Dash’s dam, Another Hot Idea. Even though she herself was never raced, Another Hot Idea is an AAA producer, including Shadow's sire, Hot Shot Dash. Another Hot Idea produced 10 foals, 7 of which were starters, 6 of those being winners/ROM.
Bikini Girl (SI-95): Another AAA racing mare, she was crossed with Top Moon to produce Moon Control (SI-96), the sire of Shadow's dam, Iris Cinnamon (SI-75). Iris Cinnamon's dam was also sired by Moon Control, thus making the two crosses Shadow has to Top Moon right on his papers, bottom side. Bikini Girl was sired by the great AQHA Champion Scooper Chick (SI-100), who earned over $60,000 in race money and 54 Halter points.
